Myriad band advertising
For this brief, I was asked to produce a campaign advertising the tour and single release of 'Afterglow' by the band 'Myriad'. As part of this campaign, i needed to create 2 posters, 2 banners/billboards, and a t-shirt merch design. The designs needed to appeal to an audience of 16-30 year olds who have an interest in the indie/rock pop genre of music
Primary and secondary poster designs
I chose a subtle/mature colour scheme to appeal to the target audience, and created focal points around the band members, so their faces become memorable and associated with the band name. I also created visual hierarchy through colour and size to highlight specific elements
Initial poster sketches and wireframes
Here I experimented with different compositions/layouts to change focal points, create hierarchy and find which would create the most successful design
Banner/billboard designs
I chose a different focal point for each design, the top focusing on the band name, and the bottom on the band members, this was so they could be interchanged and used across platforms seamlessly. I made sure to keep a minimalist design to meet the purpose and create a user friendly design
T-shirt and label designs
I created a gender neutral design and used colours that would target as much of the audience as possible. I made sure to include social media handles subtly at the bottom to provide advertisement when worn, as well as an image of the members so they become subconsciously linked with the band name
Main sketchbook pages
At the start I researched 4 different bands and their successful marketing campaigns, and analysed what elements worked well and what didnt, so I could use these to influence my own campaign. After, I then created a mind map to collate all of my ideas, and a mood board to do the same, as well as give a visual feel for what the end products may look like.
